It was a winter afternoon something like today's, the sun was bright but no hot. I stood there by the road side for quite some time, numb, trying to get my bearings right. There was not a soul in sight. The road extended as far as I could see, wild casuarina trees lining it suggested I must be near some sea front. I started walking down the road, after a while thought I heard the faint sound of waves to my left, climbed up a small mound , yes , I was on some beach all right. Quite an extraordinary beach beach I must say.
The beach, with yellow clean sand extended from where I stood near the road all the way to the sea. The slope was steep near the road but gentle as it neared the water. There were hills to my right, green and misty. Again not a soul to be seen, it was beautiful. The sea was blue and calm.I sat down over that mound, the sun was not on my face and it was afternoon and I was sitting facing the sea, so I must be somewhere on the east coast. I sat there for quite some time, no traffic on the road no one on the beach, could be cause I am not wearing my spects. I strained my eyes but couldnt see any one there. Where the hell am I ?
Just then a stream came gushing to my left, it was eager to meet the sea, I could make that out. As it approached the beach it was a little hesitant. I could see the reason, the sand was dry it could soak up all its water. I could see the anxiety, it must have been a long journey so far, it could see its destination but yet so far.It stood there gushing, bubbling.
I wanted to reach out do something, but what could I. You cant turn back now, make a dash for it, an honest effort. If you dry out before you reach the sea, then well, you were never meant to meet it, but atleast you tried. It perhaps understood what I was thinking for it rushed towards the sea, I thought I saw a gleam in its eyes and a smile as it ran off.
Then I woke up. I will revisit that place again.
