Make amends

5 days after the incident, what is now the worst terrorist activity in Indian history the healing process, has set in, we have to, come to terms with the loss , make peace with it and move on. Its in our nature, acts like this will never be able to undermine the spirit . life is too precious and beautiful for us to let go in the face of these acts.

The problem is our response to such events is mostly emotional in nature, we will use a lot of superlatives , make some high pitched speeches but then loose our focus. Our response ought to be more structured, we got to identify the faults in our system and make amends. WE shouldnt be grappling with the same set of problems again and again.

WE are providing 24* 7 global support to multinationals for their business process, should nt we have a 24*7 response teams to deal with terrorism. The NSG is based out of New Delhi and on that fateful Wednesday their transport plane was in Chandigarh!. The NSG now appears to be the only security agency that can deal with these kind of terrorist activity, local police cant deal with it. We have potential terrorist targets dispersed throughout India, NSG also needs to be dispersed as well. Establish separate NSG battle stations throughout the country so that our response time is less, layouts of the buildings and mock drills on these targets would further streamline our response.Establish a well thought out chain of command so that NSG is automatically put into action.

On the political front, we should work with the Pakistan govt, not push it to a corner, with our rhetorical comments . Pakistan itself is not in total control of itself. Its possible that the Pakistan govt itself is not involved, but elements within it. Taking a hard-line stance against Pakistan willl not yield anything.WE should work with the govt there, it will be difficult but thats a better apprach in my opinion.

Another aspect is our internal demography, there are definitely elements within our country who regularly collaborate on such activities. Political parties ought to shed ther 'pseudo secularist' attitude and call a spade a spade. WE shouldnt generalise the whole community but we should be firm in dealing with them.

The first part of the response is definitely something that is possible, for the second and the third one the onus is on the political parties themselves , I am not very hopeful of that happening, but the first part yes definitely possible.
