One aspect of travelling that we often neglect is food. We arrive at a new place with our own baggage, we soak in the sights, its mainly sights and I am afraid sometimes only sight. Each place must have their own sense of taste but "stick to what you know , to be on the safer side.", Sometimes the line is true if you experiment far too often, at times you will go hungry, the food will be so not what you hoped for.But without experiment you you will never know.
Its sad how we are beginning to look at food. packaged, convinient, accessable, anonymous.... how many times have I gone to a restaurant and left withut a memory, they all taste the same, there is nothing to differentiate... food seldom have a.... what I like to call a personality, But in a big city everyone tries to be a conformist. But when you travel you can really explore this aspect. It might be too much to expect in your day to day experience...cause you need to be rich ...you need to also have that extra time ...but when you are travelling or when you are eating out... yopu can eat the same fried rice in a Chinese restaurant and in the South Indian restaurant beside Hyderabad Centra!
.
Its not just the name of the dish / hotel what I guess is important is to take pride in it , often food is commoditised and when it is treated as a commodity it looses its flavour , its identity, its personality.
