Babel Part Deux

Now that recession is everywhere, how would it unfold. I am guilty in my thoughts here, but imagine a movie, something like The Babel, parallel stories.

A freshly minted Havard graduate joins a investment bank, a fat pay cheque, parties, cars, an apartment overlooking the "There is a big park in NewYork I forgot its name" on credit

A fresh graduate out of a Indian College, a nice job by indian standards.Big city in India, malls, multiplexes, branded clothing.. just married, flat on credit, car on creditEconomy is booming, what can go wrong. A lively dost, yarri song around hussain sagar and a mushy candlelight dinner song in the new apartment, which then exends with a ride in the new car , in the moonsoons.

Hardworking dudes, career oriented, our Indian dude is even making some money in the stock market, mutual funds ...started watching CNBC TV18 and Economic Times, (btw no one seems to be watching CNBC TV 18 these days in the cafeteria, I have not seen it on during lunch, anyway lets not deviate from the topic). our New Yourk dude is getting fat bonuses on derivative trading jetsetting, emerging markets, a tv intvw as an expert on CNBC US edition, This is the only moment where our Indian dude has seen the US dude, ofcourse only the viewers of this movie realize this, not the protagnists...

No one is complaining, no one is seeing anything wrong, parents on both sides are happy, so are relatives, collegues friends are tinged with jealousy, Even the economic experts are happy, the govt too, everything is too good to be true.

And then , first a roumour, then a whisper and finally a crash , both are out on the street, defaulted on credit payments , kids maynot be able to enroll in that international school. Society reacts, cries foul... some more symbolic substance can be added here....no songs though that would be in bad taste.

This time the US dude gets to meet the Indian one , watching a regular tv news, covering a layoff story in India.
