in a way its natural to define those boundaries, we probably do it instinctively to segregate friendly/hostile characters, or to simply manage things easily. When someone is threatened, What can he/she do ? But when this segregation is done in a calculated way to further some personal agenda an ulterior motive , or sometimes when purely from a utility perspective, "I might aswell be friendly with him for my own benefit". Yuuuuuck How can people be like that ? Mind you there is fine line between being friendly with the ulterior motive of some gain and not being hostile or being neutral to someone who might benefit you, the later in my view is acceptable . Maybe I am complaining cause I am too straight, lazy(who will manage all that), to carry on the duality of intent and actions, may be thats what you call smartness !. It might be funny to see these people at work.....whatever.... I have met many characters like these , came to know of their other sides manytimes way too late.
