Some time back was having lunch with some friends, to our right there was a family , two girls and parents. Apart from us there were a bunch of other guys too. The girls were pretty and had the attention of almost every guy there.
Pretty standard you would say, but isn't it unfair the way guys almost have a licence to ogle and have 'fun' while girls are expected to 'behave', conditioned to not make eye contact, always look down. I dont know, may be girls are okey with all this, but if someone would have told me to 'behave' like that, I would have resented it.
While this discussion was going on, theories put forward ..... another family stepped in , a guy with his parents.. hmm so this was after all a match making session. The poor guy torn between decency in front of his parents managed to steal some hesitant glances, same with the girls.
With the arrival of this group all the guys began to concentrate on their food. " You know no matter what most of the girls will finally settle for something that their parents choose, Its very difficult for the majority of the girls to defy the norm". I had heard this theory before and it sounded quite true then and now as well.
But one should not be judgemental about it, I believe whatever everyone does is in their own selfish interest, and it holds good for guys as well. For a girl it might manifest in going along with what her parents say, for a guy may be in some other way. Its not like a guy is a sacrificial lamb here. Thats life.. eachone for itself.
Dont know if its true , doesn't matter, at least this philosophy helps you in dealing with situations. Its always easier when it sounds fair.
